With the advent of computers, genealogy has come of age (Both in the U.S. and Europe). It is now possible to have research carried out on one's family history from the millions of genealogical records that are computerised. The main sources of these genealogy gems are (computerised) gravestone inscriptions , civil records of births, marriages, deaths and local census records (Onondaga County has many U.S. census records on microfilm at the main public library).
